Since the DC has a Tach, many think you need an encoder on an extruder. The reality is the speed regulation on Open Loop Vector systems are twice that of DC! Unless you are extruding medical tubing or ultra-fine sheet, the addition of an encoder is unnecessary; moreover, sometimes the addition of an encoder results in the extruder fighting itself.
NO
The standard Inverter rated motor without a blower is designed with a fan on the back that cools the motor when running full speed...FULL SPEED, not slower! Not only is the insulation class typically lower, but the cooling characteristics are not designed for extrusion...and they are just too darn big! The blower is needed for cooling and is always included with the filter kit on ICT's pricing.
